From November 21 to November 22, the finals for Jiangsu Province Graduate’s Energy-Saving and Low-Carbon Science and Technology Innovation and Practice Competition, sponsored by the Jiangsu Engineering Class 1 Graduate Education Steering Committee, Jiangsu University, and Jiangsu Society of Engineering Thermophysics, was successfully held at Mingdu Hotel in Zhenjiang.

Professor Yuan Shouqi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangsu University, Professor Shen Xing, Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Engineering Class 1 Graduate Education Steering Committee, Professor Hua Yongming, Deputy Head of the Jiangsu Engineering thermophysics Technology Communication Expert Group, Professor Lu Xingcai of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Liu Dong of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Professor Liu Haifeng from Tianjin University, Professor Yang Xinglin from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Professor Zhao Chuanwen from Nanjing Normal University, Professor Sun Yunlan from Changzhou University and other relevant leaders and experts from Jiangsu University all attended the opening ceremony. Professor Wang Junfeng, Dean of the School of Energy and Power Engineering of Jiangsu University, hosted the opening ceremony. This competition received a total of 129 preliminary works from 12 colleges in Jiangsu province, and 16 excellent works have been selected. The total number of works has increased by 41.8% compared to those of last year; at last, 36 competition entries has been qualified for the finals, which are from 36 teams of 10 universities.

Professor Yuan Shouqi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangsu University, gave a welcome speech and introduced the background to the guests, including the historical evolution, development status, and construction situation of the discipline- power engineering and engineering thermophysics of Jiangsu University. Professor Yuan shows a warm welcome on the arrival of everyone to attend this meeting.

Professor Shen Xing expressed sincere congratulations on the successful hosting of the Graduate’s Energy-Saving and Low-Carbon Science and Technology Innovation and Practice Competition finals on behalf of the organizer, and at the same time demonstrated gratitude to our school for high enthusiasm to hold. Besides, he proposed the implementation of graduate education, making the improvement for developing the graduates as center target and main tasks. At the same time, he hopes that the contestants will cherish the opportunity of the competition, learn from each other, and make progress together. Associate Professor Hua Yongming believes that the graduates from various universities positively participated in this competition and has submitted many high-quality works on the theme of energy-saving and low-carbon, which fully reflects the strong scientific spirit and innovative consciousness of the young generation with a high degree of social responsibility.

All participating teams are fully prepared. From free display to live defense, the contestants report the project results through PPT and answer the judges’ questions. The judges are based on the innovation, scientificity, practicality, accuracy of the research results and the language ability of the reporter. In the end, the finals have selected 2 special prizes, 8 first prizes, 11 second prizes, 15 third prizes, and 10 universities won the Excellent Organization Award. In this competition, Jiangsu University performed outstandingly and won 1 special prize, 4 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 6 third prizes. In total, Jiangsu University won 16 awards and excellent organization award.

The closing ceremony and awards ceremony of the competition was hosted by Professor Li Hong, Executive Vice Dean of Graduate School of Jiangsu University. The successful holding of this Jiangsu Province Graduate’s Energy-Saving and Low-Carbon Science and Technology Innovation and Practice Competition provides a stage to show new ideas and technologies in the energy-saving and low-carbon field, in which the graduates can show their innovation and share the ideas crossing energy and power. This competition further enhanced the students’ innovative spirit, scientific research ability and practical ability, promoted wide exchanges among universities, and contribute to the realization of the high-quality graduate education in Jiangsu Province.
