On October 8, 2024, the School of Energy and Power Engineering held a demonstration public class of "Combustion" in classroom 2111 of Jingjiang Building. This open class was delivered by Associate Professor Fan Baowei, and the teaching object was the 22nd grade students majoring in energy and power engineering.
In the open class, Associate Professor Fan Baowei gave a lecture on Chapter 5 of Combustion: Diffusion Combustion and Flame. First of all, Mr. Fan Baowei led the students to review the content they had learned in the previous stage and the logical relationship between it and the new content in this section, so as to help students better understand the importance of diffusion combustion in the whole course of Combustion. Subsequently, engineering cases were listed for the diffusion combustion of liquids, and the learning content was made more vivid through a variety of dynamic pictures of combustion in the power unit, so as to stimulate the students' interest in learning new knowledge. Furthermore, the problem-based teaching method is used to guide students to focus on how to achieve efficient combustion of liquids. Inspired by this question, the whole process of liquid fuel from atomization, evaporation to combustion was patiently and meticulously explained. During this period, Mr. Fan Baowei also achieved good teaching results through a variety of interesting phenomena in life, easy-to-understand language and active classroom interaction.
In addition, this open class introduced the "dual carbon" strategic policy advocated by the state into classroom teaching, so that students can understand the importance of efficient liquid combustion for energy conservation and emission reduction, so as to enhance students' enthusiasm for learning and stimulate students' feelings and mission to serve the country with science and technology, and the ideological and political elements are well integrated into the teaching of professional courses. The teaching ideas and logic of the whole class are clear, the teaching content, teaching methods and teaching process are carefully designed, and the positive interaction with students makes the whole classroom atmosphere harmonious and harmonious.
The opening of the public demonstration course "Combustion" has played a positive role in promoting the construction of first-class courses in the School of Energy, and at the same time has provided a good learning opportunity and communication platform for the young teachers of the school, and has achieved the expected results.
