Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Association of Higher Education issued a notice to include the "Poetry and Painting Fluid Mechanics Creation Competition" in the provincial recognition competition. As a unique student discipline competition in Jiangsu Province, the Poetry and Painting Fluid Mechanics Creation Competition has been warmly welcomed and actively participated by teachers and students since it was first held in 2019 with its innovative form and profound connotation.

The Poetry and Painting Fluid Mechanics Creation Competition is jointly sponsored by Jiangsu Mechanics Society and Jiangsu University, co-organized by Hehai University, Qingdao University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Naval University of Engineering and other universities, and undertaken by the School of Energy and Power Engineering of Jiangsu University and Zhenjiang Mechanics Society. The competition aims to stimulate students' innovative thinking and exploration spirit by combining traditional culture and modern science, promote students to closely link rigorous science and humanistic feelings in practice, deeply understand the beauty of fluid flow, taste the elegance of poetry and painting, strengthen aesthetic education and practice, and realize the simultaneous improvement of humanistic and scientific literacy.

In 2023, the Poetry and Painting Fluid Mechanics Creation Competition received a total of 298 works from 24 universities including Jiangsu University, Hehai University, Naval University of Engineering, and Dalian University of Technology, covering multiple categories such as videos, calligraphy and painting, and poetry creation. After the preliminary screening of the formal review and the second round of evaluation by the expert group, various awards in the categories of video, calligraphy and painting, and poetry creation were finally evaluated. These award-winning works not only demonstrate the students' deep understanding and innovative thinking of the principles of fluid mechanics, but also fully demonstrate their love and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture.

With the poetry and painting fluid mechanics creation competition being officially recognized as a provincial competition, its influence and appeal will be further enhanced. In the future, the competition will continue to adhere to the tenet of "appreciating Chinese poetry, analyzing world famous paintings, and appreciating the beauty of fluid mechanics", constantly innovate and improve the form and content of the competition, attract more students to participate in this challenging discipline competition, and jointly promote the development and prosperity of fluid mechanics and related disciplines.
