From November 28 to December 1, the 8th Meeting of the 14th Council of the Engineering Thermophysics Committee of the China Association of Higher Education and the “Low-Carbon Combustion and Efficient Heat Transfer” Forum were held in Zhenjiang. More than 150 experts and scholars in the field of engineering thermophysics gathered to conduct in-depth academic exchanges around the theme of “low-carbon combustion and efficient heat transfer,” while also discussing teaching innovations in “New Engineering Education ・ Thermophysics.” The committee members concurrently held the 8th meeting of the 14th council.

The meeting was hosted by the Engineering Thermophysics Committee of the China Association of Higher Education, organized by the School of Energy and Power Engineering of Jiangsu University, and supported by Wuxi Shenkang Technology Co., Ltd. Attendees included Shen Shengqiang, Chair of the Committee; Duan Yuanyuan, Secretary-General; Luo Zhongyang, Supervisor; Vice-Chairs Yao Mingfa, Zhang Quanguo, Liao Qiang, Wu Huiying, He Maogang, Zhao Guangbo, and Yu Zitao; as well as Li Hong, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jiangsu University.

The council members carried out the agenda of the 8th meeting of the 14th Council of the Engineering Thermophysics Committee of the China Association of Higher Education. After voting, four new member units were added.

At the academic exchange session on “Low-Carbon Combustion and Efficient Heat Transfer,” Li Hong, Vice President of Jiangsu University, delivered a welcome speech. She introduced the development overview of the university and the School of Energy and Power Engineering, expressing hopes that the attending experts and scholars would make full use of this academic platform to share the latest research results on the research hotspot of low-carbon combustion and efficient heat transfer, promote innovation in the field, and contribute to the achievement of the “carbon peak and carbon neutrality” strategic goals.

In his speech, Shen Shengqiang stated that the discipline of engineering thermophysics has always played a key role in the national “dual-carbon” strategy, and that the China Association of Higher Education’s Engineering Thermophysics Committee has continuously grown in the process of serving the development of the discipline. The forum actively responded to the call of “developing new quality productivity” and “high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement,” bringing together top experts and scholars, focusing on the theme of “low-carbon combustion and efficient heat transfer,” and conducting in-depth discussions. It is hoped that through high-quality academic exchanges, the high-quality development of energy can be jointly promoted, injecting new era connotations into the field of engineering thermophysics.

During the forum’s invited report session, Yao Mingfa from Tianjin University and Qinghai Minzu University, Xu Minghou and Gong Xun from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Qi Fei from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, He Maogang from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xiao Gang from Zhejiang University, and Pan Jianfeng from Jiangsu University gave brilliant presentations on topics such as “Exploration of Combustion Modes of Ammonia Fuel in Internal Combustion Engines,” “Generation and Control of Condensable Particulate Matter from Fixed Combustion Sources,” “Combustion Measurement and Combustion Reactive Flow,” “Improvement and Application of Optical Methods for Thermophysical Properties,” “Exploration of Industrial Energy Supply Technology Based on High-Temperature Thermochemical Energy Storage,” and “Combustion Process of Rotary Engines and New Combustion Modes.”

The forum also featured a session on the sharing and discussion of teaching innovation experiences in “New Engineering Education ・ Thermophysics,” covering student training in energy and power disciplines under the carbon neutrality context, and the integration of industry and academia.
