On September 8, Academician Ye Qizhen’s academic lecture was held in the First Lecture Hall of the Conference Center. The report meeting was hosted by Professor Wang Junfeng, Dean of the School of Energy and Power Engineering. Some teachers and students from the school, Fluid Center, Energy Institute, and School of Automotive attended the report.
Academician Ye Qizhen gave an academic report on "Nuclear Energy Benefits Humanity". Academician Ye vividly explained in easy-to-understand language how nuclear energy can benefit mankind from aspects such as the generation mechanism of nuclear energy, the development of nuclear power in my country, the treatment of nuclear waste, the impact of nuclear power plants on the environment, new application fields of nuclear energy, and the future development direction of nuclear energy. Academician Ye pointed out that nuclear energy is a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy source and the most realistic strategic choice to achieve the "double carbon" goal. There is great potential and great achievements in developing nuclear power. The report was profound and simple. After the report, Academician Ye had an interactive exchange with teachers and students, which aroused widespread concern among teachers and students attending the meeting.
Ye Qizhen is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, an expert in nuclear reactor and nuclear power engineering, deputy director of the Science and Technology Committee of China National Nuclear Corporation, and director of the Expert Committee of China Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation. In the 1960s, he participated in the design of China's first production reactor. In the 1970s, he participated in the design of dual-purpose production and power generation reactors and served as the chief design engineer. In the early 1980s, he prepared to establish the Nuclear Industry Computer Application Research Institute and served as the director. In 1986, he began to prepare for the construction of the Qinshan Phase II 600Mw nuclear power plant project and served as the chief designer of the project. Qinshan Phase II was designed and constructed in accordance with international standards, and was successfully commercialized in 2002. From the prosperous cities to the northwest frontier, from the desert to the mountains, Academician Ye has left his hurried footprints on the front line of China's nuclear industry production and construction. After decades of ups and downs, he dedicated his wisdom and talent to his beloved nuclear industry and the localization of nuclear power.
