On May 31, the Wukesong Forum, sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of the school and hosted by the School of Energy and Power Engineering, was held in Room 1419 of the school Building. Professor Han Zhi was invited to give a special lecture titled "Vacuum Cooling" to more than 50 undergraduate students and graduate students. The lecture was hosted by Mr. Zhao Jun.

Cooling or pre-cooling cooked foods, fruits and vegetables can greatly reduce bacterial reproduction and easily control the bacterial load, which is beneficial to improving food safety. Vacuum cooling can be used in the field of cooling or pre-cooling of food, fruits and vegetables, which is of great significance for the implementation of the "Food Safety Law". Professor Han Zhi introduced the concepts and principles of vacuum cooling with real-life examples and explained the working principle of the vacuum cooling machine experimental platform. He extended from the numerical simulation of the vacuum environment during the vacuum cooling process to the numerical simulation of the vacuum cooling process of porous food and spherical food. The lecture analyzed the vacuum cooling effect of several foods and the impact of pressure fluctuations on the cooling effect, as well as the development of special software for food vacuum cooling.

Professor Han gave a wonderful lecture to the students in easy-to-understand language, popularizing the relevant knowledge of vacuum cooling. He shared the experience on how to conduct scientific research and how to improve scientific research and innovation capabilities with vivid cases. The students all expressed that they benefited a lot and it played a very good guiding role in their subsequent study and scientific research work.
