On December 8, Professor Liu Haifeng, a chaired professor at Tianjin University and a nationally recognized talent, was invited to our school to give an academic lecture titled "Development of Methanol Engines and Discussion on Grant Writing." Faculty and students from relevant colleges attended the lecture, which was hosted by Professor Pan Jianfeng, Dean of the School of Energy and Power Engineering.

Professor Liu Haifeng focused on energy and the environment, guided by the national carbon neutrality goals. He outlined the current development status and future paths of internal combustion engines. Using methanol as an example, he introduced the research progress of spark-ignition and compression-ignition methanol engines, summarized several combustion modes of methanol engines along with their advantages and disadvantages, and discussed the main challenges faced by low-pressure dual-fuel modes. He then detailed his team’s research achievements in methanol spray combustion and its stability improvement, as well as the corrosion reliability of methanol engines. Finally, Professor Liu Haifeng had in-depth exchanges with young scholars on grant writing and application.
